Rapper Biz Markie Suffering With a ‘Serious Illness’

Legendary rapper/beatboxer Biz Markie (Marcel Theo Hall) was admitted weeks ago into a Maryland area hospital with a serious illness. According to TMZ, he is not suffering from Covid-19. The illness is related to Type 2 Diabetes and there are no details about recovery timeframes at this time.

“He is receiving the best care from an amazing team of medical professionals and we remain positive about the outcome,” a rep for Biz Markie told media outlets.

Biz Markie, best known for his 1989 song, “Just a Friend,” talked about why he lost 140 pounds in 2014. “I wanted to live,” Markie, 50, told ABC News. “Since I have to be a diabetic, If I didn’t make the changes, it was going to make the diabetes worse. I’m trying to get off [the Diabetes meds]. The way you gotta do it is lose the weight. I’m off half my meds, I just got to get off the rest.”

This year, Biz has been working as a radio show host on SiriusXMs LL Cool J’s Rock the Bells Radio every weekday 1-4pm ET.

While the status of his condition is unknown, the entire TBE family is hoping Biz makes a full recovery soon.
